The march of browser based instruments continues unabated. Now we have another Roland Music classic, the 909. Finally, a 909 drum machine in your browser, the HTML 909.
Browser based plugins herald another level of change in the music technology arena. No Longer are you bound to the costs of a digital audio workstation or even an operating system. With these Google Chrome based plugins, the opportunity to produce amazing music through just the browser becomes something that is indeed more possible each and every day.
The 909 drum machine was the real backbone of house music. So revered is this drum machine that there was a 909 day this year and a reissue of the 909 drum machine from Roland, the TR09.
Vintage Synth Explorer History of the 909
The TR-909 is an excellent analogue drum machine! THE standard House and Techno beatbox. Sounds include kick, snare, hand clap, open and closed hi hats, low mid and hi toms, rim shot, ride and crash cymbals. Sounds are tweakable – attack, tone, tuning, decay, snap and accent. This machine does not sound like real acoustic drums, and we don’t want it to. It has a unique and very loveable analogue sound that’s all its own!
Extremely popular today, especially for dance, it is used by 808 State, Air, Bushflange, Future Sound of London, Moby, Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim), Orbital, Hardfloor, Überzone, Underworld, The Prodigy, Faithless, ATB, Eat Static, Jimmy Edgar, Sense Datum, Richie Hawtin, A Guy Called Gerald, Astral Projection, Josh Wink, Freddy Fresh, Jean-Michel Jarre, Luke Vibert, the Chemical Brothers, and many more!
